No, the chromosome number of cells after meiosis will not be the same as the original cell was before meiosis. Meiosis is a type of cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes in the parent cell by half and produces four gamete cells. After meiosis, each gamete has exactly half as many chromosomes as the original cell.

Meiosis II results in haploid cells. In meiosis II, cells become haploid in anaphase II when the spindle fibers pull the chromatids for the opposite poles.

Fertilization is the process in which fusion of gametes is occurred to initiate the development of a new individual organism.

A zygote is a eukaryotic cell formed by the fertilization process between the two gametes. The zygote's genome is a combination of DNA in each gamete, and it contains all of the genetic information necessary to form a new individual.
