The organ that lies in the connective tissue between the stomach and the first part of the small intestine is the Pancreas.

The pancreas is about 6 inches long and located behind the stomach. It is divided into head, uncinate process, neck, body and tail.  The head of the pancreas is on the right side of the abdomen and is connected to the duodenum through the pancreatic duct.

The pancreas is an exocrine and endocrine gland . The exocrine function is because digestive enzymes are secreted by the pancreas into the small intestine throgh the pancreatic duct. The endocrine part consists of cells called islets of Langerhans which releases two hormones into the blood stream - Insulin and Glucagon.
