Main function of digestive system is to digest and absorb the nutrient from the food material absorption of water and excrete the undigested food material .while the urinary or renal system is involved in the filtration of blood and reabsorbing the the essential elements of plasma and water from the filtrate in the renal tubules and excretion of ions and toxic substances such as urea ,creatinine etc.

The digestive system works similar to the Urinary system. as While the digestive system collects and removes undigested solids,the excretory system filters compounds from the blood stream and collects them in urine. and finally egestion of waste material .This shows their connectedness "two way" as there is simultaneous absorbtion and excretion of substances
