because,

it is an descriptive statistical operation. Median describe about the center

of the data. it do not make any prediction or inferences about population.

inferential statistics is used make prediction and inferences about the population using random sample of data taken from population. example:  hypothesis testsing, confidence intervals, regression analysis etc.

descriptive statistics is uses the data to describe the population by using numerical calculation or graphs and tables. example: calculating Mean, Median, Mode, Range, Variance, Standard Deviation, Percentile, Quartile etc.
