Educators now agree that minority children should be encouraged to develop a bicultural identity. What does a bicultural identity mean to you? What are the benefits of this? How might you help a student go about developing this identity?

Minority groups are the group's which are somewhat differentiated by major groups of societies. It may be based on religion, caste, on the basis of money etc.

So, about minority children to be encouraged, to develop bicultural identity. Bicultural identity means combining any two cultures, accepting them and still being yourself as a different individual. Culture involves, our behavior, beliefs, personality etc. So in bicultural identity, the person's belief, way of living matters before accepting any culture.

Talking about the benefits, the minority children can boost their confidence as they get to accept a culture who are in majority. They won't feel left out.

A student can be helped to develop bicultural identity, we have to observe how the child behaves, his beliefs, talk to the child about the idea of bicultural identith, what attracts him/her etc.
