How is 1492 related to the creation of the modern idea of race

1492 was a significant era in creation of interactions between people in the Western Hemisphere and the eastern hemisphere. There was an increased cultural collision that lead to the transformation in the environment in the new world. There were two concepts, “the new world” and the “new race”. In 1492, when there was arrival of Columbus in America,. Many people in Spain had not only known of themselves to be white, though they were riles by the darker skinned Africans. Though, this was the first time where the ideas of race had gotten into western culture. The moors had not been racist people, and moors had allowed people GI be practising their own religions.

In and around 1700s, Spanish people had stereotyped the natives of America and referred them to being “raza” or “Indians” and “raza” turned out the English name for “race”. Later, by the year 1700, western thinkers started using the work race more often and used this as an excuse of slavery and genocide. This colour was transferred to people in the form of heredity. People came to know later with the ideas of heredity that colour of a person would pass on from one generation to another. The idea in the differences in race and colour, led people of white colour to think of themselves as supreme, and people of a darker colour as inferior, leading to development of forced labour.
