Can you discuss how race is a social construction and can you also provide an example in politics/government or housing that demonstrate how race is a social constructions. Thanks
The race is not a biological construction because there is no common and specific gene for any specific race. Nither for black nor white. This is a social construction because a black in the United States may be considered white in Brazil and colored in South Africa. This shows that racial identity can shift with individuals' personal experiences. This shift can easily be seen in our society. For example, if irrespective of racial identity if white marry a black, in that case, both are well aware of each other identity and live in a white-skinned society. There, the black partner may feel safe, component and the noncriminal or white partner may suffer the discrimination because of the intimate connection to the other race (black) partner. This example is quite enough to explain that race and racial identity is more social and political.
