A burning light,

I desired.

A dim study lamp,

A black-tasseled hat.

My dreams are old,

Maria is young.

A spotlight she’ll get,

Never will she fret.

I’ll break the walls,

Into the land of the free.

So enlightened she’ll be,

In the home of the brave.

Like an eagle, she’ll soar,

In the darkness no more.
