The fundamental purpose of organization is to achieve the goals or the mission for which the organization has been formed. The mission or goals of the organization have a vision that is certain princples for guidance and values to reinforce. Thus, the fundamental purposes of an organization is to achieve the mission with vision guided by values and principles.

The common actions that support the fundamental purposes of organization are :

  • The individual members of an organization become a part of the whole. They have a common identity while striving to achieve the golas of their organization. They have a common mental set.
  • There is a sense of coordination among the individual members of an organization. There's a collective effort to achieve the mission of the organization.
  • For the achievement of the mission if the organization there's a hierarchy of work and each group within the organization have a specialized task according to their ability.

The difference between leadership and formal authority are:

  • Leadership is an informal way of influencing the follower, who follow their leaders out of their free will. The followers trust their leaders integrity, expertise in the field and ability to judge the circumstances. Leaders always give their followers opportunities for keeping their thoughts and take their feedback whenever it is necessary. Hence, there's a two way communication. Leaders always come out of their comfort zone to provide appropriate and necessary action during an emergency situations. There's always an emotional attachment between the followers and their leader.
  • Formal authority have legal power and the people are bound to follow the instructions and rules. There's mostly one way communication between the formal authority and the people under it, as people always follow the instructions, and no feedback is asked from them. Formal authority is duty bound, hence, the individual is not required to do anything out of their comfort zone during the times of emergency. In such situations the institutions look after the things and does the required measures. Mostly there's a formal type of attachment with the authority without any emotions.
