Answer #1

One of the most important experiments in the field of psychology was conducted by Stanley Milgram. He wanted to test the concept of obedience in order to find out the obedience of the German soldiers under the Nazi regime. He recruited 40 male participants aged between 20-50 and divided them into two groups such as learner and teacher. The teacher’s role was to ask question and administer shock treatment with varying levels if the participants provide wrong answer. The interesting things about the experiment was that the teachers, although they didn’t like to continue to harm the learners with electric shocks, were demanded to continue with four prompts. However, it’s a landmark experiment that brought out the fact that the seed of obedience to authority is inbuilt in human beings.
