Answer #1

Utilitarianism was a moral concept introduced by Jeremy Bentham and Stuart Mill. Utilitarianism is one of the most influential moral theories that suggests that one’s actions will be determined right or wrong based on the outcomes of those actions. It proposes the idea that one’s actions should increase the happiness and reduce sadness and at the same time it should strive to bring happiness to more people and avoid harming anyone.

It suggests that people should come out of their selfishness to help others. It could be applied to any institution such as governments, educational institutions, home, society etc. The ultimate aim should be to benefit maximum number of people. Utility means any outcome that causes well being to maximum number of people.
