Tocqueville always strive for democracy in America. His belief is towards equality, especially democratic equality. He tends to dissolve the bonds between people that exist in societies that have a low possibility of social mobility, especially aristocracies.

By the above statement he meant that people should people in their own strength and power. Indiviualism is the main element which is hampering democratic equalty. He defines individualism as “a calm and considered feeling which disposes each citizen to isolate himself from the mass of his fellows and withdraw into the circle of family and friends.
