This week you read about a few mystical experiences that people have claimed to have had. For instance, you read about one in the book of Isaiah in the Bible and one from St. Teresa of Avila. Describe these experiences briefly. Last, do you think that it is really plausible to believe that these people had these experiences? Why or why not?
There is an entire realm within psychology that deals with mystical experiences or matter of the 'other' world or those that have a quality of supernatural attached to them, this discipline is called Paranormal psychology.
It is is this field that mostly deals with such experiences and goes beyond to explain the human brain, which is powerful enough to play tricks on the mind to make one belive and see things that don't truly exist.
Although, there is sufficient evidence that does point towards an unexplainable phenomenon taking place, which do not have physical or cognitive explanation to it.
Hence, there cannot be hard no or a hard yes, but there are grey areas within this realm, that are still being explored.
