Think about your behavior over the past few days. Describe 2-3 instances where you found yourself acting in a way that was influenced by the “demand characteristics” of the situation—that is, where you believe that you acted in a way called for by the situation that is different than you would otherwise have behaved. Describe the demand characteristics present in each situation. Do you feel your behavior says more about who you are (i.e., a personality explanation) or the situation in which you found yourself (i.e., a social explanation)? Why?
1. Not giving money to beggars (specifically when you hear and see so much about how they dont want to work and earn money but just keep moving from one signal to other and beg)
In this case the demand characteristic is not giving money to the beggar- As per me in most cases my behaviour talks of who I am in very rare cases as such the situation will come into picture.
2. Giving money to my maid because she requested for it, so that she could pay money for he son's extra classes in school
In this case my demand characteristic is giving money to my maid - In this case it is co-orelated to my behaviour as I would feel happy helping a poor child gain education.
