Philosophers of social science are concerned with the differences and similarities between the social and the natural sciences, the causes behind social phenomena, the existence of universal or specific social laws, and the significance of structure and agency. To this end, all the three branches of philosophy,namely ontology, epistemology and ethics are equally crucial to the Philosophy of social sciences as they contribute to building a system of knowledge such as what is consciousness ? ( an ontological dimension in Psychology), how are laws developed within the justice system? ( a question of epistemology as studied by anthropologists, sociologists, political scientists, and why is collective violence a problem in developing societies? ( an issue of ethics which aims to generate a pragmatic solution to the socila problem).
