what are your thoughts on repressed memory syndrome and false memories
Repressed memory refers to the unconscious blocking of memory that are associated with a high level of stress or trauma. It also refers to a person’s inability to recall autobiographic information that consists of particular event, people, and time. In my opinion, repressed memories are good as long as they don’t affect the normal functioning of a person or don’t prevent them from experiencing their present life.
False memory on the other hand refers to the memory which never happened. People make that up as if it happened and it is mostly associated and the effect of childhood sexual abuse. These memories are bit dangerous because if they point out wrong people for wrong incidents, it would affect others too. It would also lead them to an imaginary world where they will make stories of their own which is not good.
