1.Shown below is the Diagrams for Alibaba business model as an example which is more or less similar to Amazon ,Paypal or Google Inc ,etc,in a structured B2B model.
It is very hard to define its business model as it is not only structured with one but with many. Like other ecommerce website, Alibaba is also using the Advertising Business model ,B2B,C2C and B2C as well that makes the majority of its revenue through the online advertising. Its goal is to facilitate 24*7 online platform for the buyers and the sellers around the world.
2.Alibaba does not buy or sell goods rather acts like a middleman for the(buyers and the sellers) customers and channel partners or the sellers.Now it is targeting the consumers, as the latest information speaks. In last decade it has expanded to all the corners of the world of around 190 odd countries.
It still hold the major focus on China with an avg of 75% of ecommerce which has 560 million of internet users, which is twice of US. It has its branches in The US,UK, India, Japan and Korea. It has also targeted the online platforms of individual customers through its parent website known as Tmall.com and Taobao.com.
3. The tools and techniques it has followed are described below:
-As we know that Alibaba has its branches in many other countries, apart from this it has its operations in Taobao which means an online portal used for searching for treasure. Taobao.com is one of the largest shopping website in China. It has millions of products and sellers and does not charge for transactions. It focused on B2C and C2C.
-Another website was TMall which offered a wide range of branded products. It focused on large companies like Nike, Inc, Apple ,etc.It has 50 k merchants.Many others like 11Main, Group Ecosystem, Alipay, Alimama etc.
-The sellers have access to the analytic tools which shows the no. of visitors , page views, and customer ratings which helps them in growth of their business.
After understanding all strategies and management of the trading industry, the language of the market, profitable factors and its tried and true trading techniques has helped him search for new merchants.
