please describe how you would respond to the following questions from a patient in your dental office.
Should I avoid dental x-ray exposure during
pregnancy?
X rays are radiation which penetrate theough the tissue to get the image.
The amount of radiation depends in the area of X ray ,size of the body and machine used .
Generally the X ray does not have impact on the growing featus however when it is done without precaution to the body it may harm but in very low possibilities.
The dental x ray uses very short amount of radiation and does not harm your pregnancy also does not have to do anything with abdominial and pelvis area.
It only uses very small area of our teeth to get the image.
So telling the dentist about your pregnancy, you can get the x ray done with your teeth,it will definately does not harm the baby and mother.
