When I did an internship with a big consumer goods and medical devices firm, I had the opportunity to involve in one of its community development/social responsibility activity where I visited schools for visually, speech and hearing impaired students. The schools were non-profit and required funding for their daily operations. Apart from funding, the firm also let's its employees visit the schools and spend time with the students, understand them and involve them in various fun and developmental activities. I visited the schools every week and spent time with students empowering them whatever little I could. It was important to me to understand the issues that disable persons face on a daily basis to empathize and support them thus feeling a sense of responsibility and achievement.
