Do you think most managers in real life use a contingency approach to increase their leadership effectiveness? Explain.
A contingency approach to leadership implies that the leadership behaviour is dependent on the specific situations and circumstances. Managers must apply contingency approach along with traditional management behaviours in order to be most effective. For example, suppose there is a strict deadline for a client presentation, and one of the key team members falls sick. Now this is an unforeseen situation and the manager must act quickly to resolve the issue and deliver results. He must motivate and guide other team members to take up the work of the sick employee and complete his work so that the presentation deadline is not affected.
