Yes most effective managers do use the contingency approach in real life as well. Most efficient leaders do not believe in one size fits all approach. They learn from situations and apply themselves accordingly rather than applying the predefined solutions to every approach. They apply their experience and solve the situations for which they make use of comtingency approach in real life as well.

One needs to inculcate those habits in daily life to make them come naturally to you, this is what managers do, they use contingency approach in small daily problems as well which helps them to apply themselves more naturally in business problem situatuons as well.
