  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Relaxation therapy

These methods reduce pain in such patients by reducing anxiety, stress and depression.

ROLE OF ADEQUATE SLEEP IN REDUCING PAIN

According to National Sleep Foundation, each adult should sleep 7- 9 hours each night.

-For those people who don't get enough sleep,sleeping longer reduces the pain sensitivity.

-sleeping properly reduce chronic back pain and other types of pain.

Role of nurse in helping patient to get adequate sleep

- provide a clean and noice free environment for the patient. This will provide adequate sleep.

- give them eye mask and ear plugs

-play a calming music if necessary.

-if nurse wants to check bp or any vitals, do it with minimal discomfort to the patient.
