Answer #1

Answer: There are many research and studies in which it has been found that the red wine has the positive impact on the prostate cancer. Researchers suggest that intake of optimal red wine could reduce the risk of severe prostate cancer.

The major reason is that the red wine has the huge concentration of the polyphenols. It means that the polyphenols are the compunds which are highly active antioxidant. So, antioxidant reduces the free radical in the body and reduces the risk of cancer.

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test is a common screening test used for detecting prostate cancer. From Harvard Medical School “Prostate Knowledge” webpage. Is PSA reliable? Although PSA testing can help catch prostate cancer at an early stage, having an elevated PSA (generally considered more than 4 ng/ml) doesn’t necessarily mean that a man has cancer. Noncancerous conditions, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate, and prostatitis, can raise PSA levels. In fact, studies have shown that about 75% of...

A Canadian male has recently had a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test as to determine if he has prostate cancer. The false-positive rate of a PSA test is 13%. If he does have prostate cancer, PSA test will be positive 80% of the time. Because this male is showing symptoms that are consistent with prostate cancer, it is assumed that the chance he has prostate cancer prior to taking the PSA test is 0.15. Part (a) What is the probability...

Prostate-specific antigen. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the cells of the prostate gland. Blood PSA level is often elevated in men with prostate cancer, but a number of benign (not cancerous) conditions can also cause a man’s PSA level to rise. The PSA test for prostate cancer is a laboratory test that measures PSA levels from a blood sample. The test measures the amount of PSA in ng/ml (nanograms per milliliter of blood). The sensitivity and specificity...

A study of prostate cancer was initiated in the beginning of January 2015. One-thousand (1,000) men, 55-64 years of age, with no prior evidence of prostate cancer were enrolled in this study. The men were then followed by the investigators for four years until the end of the 2018. Each year during the study, the men were examined and tested for the presence of prostate cancer. The results of the annual examinations revealed the following: 10 cases were confirmed after...

The prostate surface antigen test (PSA) is commonly used to detect early signs and symptoms of prostate cancer in men. However, the PSA test has come under quite a bit of public scrutiny for its relatively high false positive rate around 25%. Assume the prevalence of prostate cancer in men above the age over 65 is 47%. Investigators looking at the performance of the PSA test sample a group of 10,000 men over the age of 65, and come up...
