A1c test measures the amount of glucose attached to haemoglobin. If the level of glucose attached is high then the A1c is high indicating diabetes mellitus.

Managment of A1c :

  • Eat 4 to 5 smaller meals compared to 3 heavy meals.
  • Control the portion of food intake.
  • Eat complex carbohydrates rather than simple carbohydrates.
  • Take fiber rich diet.
  • Use millets , whole grain based food .
  • Avoid eating processed and high fat content foods.
  • Avoid fried foods.
  • Follow healthy lifestyle.
  • Exercise,  go for walk or practice any sport of your choice.
  • Take oral hypoglycemics or insulin as prescribed if you are diabetic.
  • Monitor weight .
  • Practice yoga, meditation to distress.
  • Maintain a routine to sleep. Get proper rest.
