What is your personal position on the HHS Policy for Women's Preventative Services Coverage? Does the HHS policy infringe upon religious liberties outlined by the U.S. constitution? Why or Why not? Provide rationale for your position.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Women's preventative healthcare must be covered with no cost sharing. The law recognises and HHS understands the need to take into account the unique health needs of women throughout their life span.

HHS exempted certain grandfathered plans and narrowly defined group of houses of worship. But this exemption did not include many other religious organisations, faith based non profits and other employers who hold religious and moral objections to providing contraceptives abortificacients and sterilization procedures.

In response to this rule, dozens of faith based organisations including several southern Baptists organisation and entities sued the Obama administration, asserting their religious liberty rights under the U.S constitution.
