Flag is an alert or reminders that appear in patients chart . Flags can be used to alert the user when a patient's chart is opened. Example - alert sign of a patient who is HIV positive , has any drug abuse ,or overdue bills etc.
It helps in ensuring the safety of patients ,staffs and provision of quality care.
Using too many alert flags will be counterproductive in the following ways :-
- cause of confusion
- delayed opening of pop ups (alerts)
- misleading
- incorrect information related to the patient
- difficulty in transfer of information from one system to another
- patients chart system hanging issue
- imporper view of the information in pop ups (alert)
