How does a virus get inside a cell?

How does a virus get inside a cell?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Before giving the answer, let us understand about types of virus.

As such virus are classified depending on different way like base on genetic material it can be RNA or DNA virus but what we are concern here is classification based on presence of envelop.

So they can be enveloped or without envelope virus.

Now what is envelope of virus, envelope of virus is made up of protein and phospholipid.

So coming back to the Q

virus with envelope has viral receptors which attach to the receptors on the surface of the cell which initiate the puncture of the membrane or fusion with the host cell. Following attachment, the viral envelope fuses with the host cell membrane, causing the virus to enter.

non-envelop virus enter through a process called as ENDOCYTOSIS

Q2. A virus must replicate in the infected cell and orchestrate the assembly of virion constituents to produce progeny viruses and propagate itself. This often happens at the expense of the infected cell. A radical but ultimately effective response to stop virus replication is for the infected cell to self-destruct via apoptosis. Some viruses have evolved strategies to overcome this. A. Some Coronoviruses does it by inducing apoptosis of the killer lymphocyte cells. How does apoptosis of killer lymphocyte cells...
