When an action potential occurs, does the concentration of potassium inside the cell change a lot? How about sodium? Why?
At the resting potential, the concentration of K+ ions is high inside the cell and low outside of the cells whereas the concentration of Na+ ion inside of the cell is low and outside hight, But during the action potential, Na+ ion rushed into the cell via sodium gated channel and makes inside of the positive which and no much change happen in the K+ at is this stage. When cell become depolarise K= ion gated channel open and K+ moved outside and bring back the polarised state of cell ( inside negative and outside positive) .
