The 2018 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is an index that represents that the air quality is the leading environmental threat to public health. The tenth EPI report ranks all the 180 countries on 24 performance indicators across the10 issue categories covering environmental health and ecosystem vitality. The USA is so far down on the ranking list because the low scores on the EPI are representative of the need for national sustainability efforts on a number of fronts, especially the need for cleaning up air quality, protecting biodiversity, and reducing GHG emissions. This is due to too much of emission of the greenhouse gases.
