Prospective cohort study design

In a prospective cohort study, a group of similar individuals or population is selected, who vary in certain factors, and determines how these factors affect rates of a certain outcome.

The study should follow these steps;

1.identify the study subjects (the cohort population)

2.obtain baseline data on the exposure;measure the exposure at the start

3.select subclassification of the cohort-the unexposed control cohort-to be the comparison group.

4.Measure the outcome using records, interview or examination.

5.Do the data analysis where the Outcomes are assessed and compared.
