Answer #1

Food pyramid was earlier graphic representation of the Dietary guidelines but now it replaced by MyPlate tool.

Both representation is different as in MyPlate tool there is more visual presentation having a plate containing fruits , vegetables , whole grains and proteins representation with spoon and a glass demonstrating dairy consumption which is easy to understand by consumers about portion of food to be taken in a particular amount which is healthy and good for body and balanced to reduce weight. It also provides information about kind of oil and fats to be used to stay healthy.

It has easy design which is more understanding by people and fruits and vegetables covers more part of plate making it more healthier.

This switch was made as obesity is increasing rapidly so to get a very clear idea of amount of food and choice of food to have to control obesity . This MyPlate tool came in force to make consumers realize that to avoid high fats and carbohydrate diets like meat and beef and rely more on healthier fruits and vegetables food . MyPlate tool contains half portion of plate with fruits and vegetables and other half with whole grains and proteins.

This tool also provide a clear idea with particular amount of intake of portion and easier design to understand .
