Your new client is familiar with the Food Pyramid, the previous graphic representation of the Dietary Guidelines, but unfamiliar with the current MyPlate tool. Describe the differences between the two tools, and why the switch was made.
MyPlate is a simplified way to demonstrate the balanced diet proportions and componants of a balanced diet. To ensure to right amount of calories and fibres taken on a daily basis, MyPyramid tool was simplified into MyPlate tool.
According to this tool, Each meal should contain fruits and vegetables equivalent to half of the total contents of the plate. Along with a quarter portion grains and quarter portion protiens. Among the grains portions, half of th should be whole grain.
Each meal should be accompanied by a heathly drink. Which may be milk or any other dairy product, in breakfasts, it may be an orange juice etc.
The main differance between these two are the understandibility. The concept of MyPlate is solely based on the fact that the balanced diet and it's contents and proportions should be easily understandable by everyone.
