The following are the criteria for admission to a psychiatric facility -

1. If the patient is refered by any psychiatric specialists or social psychiatric services

2. If the clinical assessment and the diagnosis of the patient shows some serious mental disorder or severe mental illness

3. If the patient has a constant history of self harm and suicidal thoughts or attempts

4. If the patient have the tendency to harm others

5. If the patient has obvious symptoms of major impairment in reality assessment, logical thinking or occupational functioning

6. If the patient shows neurological conditions or a psychotic which is deteriorating rapidly and need immediate attention
