Ms. L is being discharged from the acute care facility after admission for atrial fibrillation. While she was in the acute care facility, it was discovered that Ms. L also has essential hypertension. She has no prior history of medical problems. She is 45 years old and lives with her two aging parents, who have multiple health problems. Ms. L is responsible for most of their care. She states, “I really need to know about the digoxin and verapamil that I’m required to take. I have to take care of myself so that I can work and take care of my parents.” You assure Ms. L that you will provide teaching on the medications and written instructions. 1. The side effects that Ms.L should be concerned while taking verapamil is causing low blood pressure.She is hypertensive and by taking verapamil she may suddenly go in to a state of hypotensive.

2. Verapamil is used to treat hypertension and atrial fibrillation which Ms.L is suffering from.
Digoxin is used to treat both irregular heart beat and also chronic atrial fibrillation which Ms.L is suffering from.
3. While taking digoxin always avoid or take lesser amounts of sodium diet, higher amounts of potassium diets should be taken and avoid large amounts of oat meal, milk and also grape juice as digoxin absorption will be interrupted.
