Complications of covid-
Covid-19 causes mild illness but people having pre-existing health problems ( such as high blood pressure, heart problem or diabetes) are more susceptible. Complications of covid includes pneumonia, Acute respiratory distress syndrome, Acute cardiac injury, Acute liver injury, Chronic fatigue, Acute kidney injury etc.
Ways to prevent transmission-
1) Wash your hands with soap and warm water frequently.
2) Avoid touching your face parts like eyes, nose.
3) Maintain social distancing.
4) Cover your mouth with mask.
5) Sanitize all the things you bought from market. Disinfect the hard surfaces using alcohol based disinfectants.
6) Avoid eating and drinking in public places.
7) If you feel ill, call your doctor.
Nursing interventions-
1) Most important nursing intervention is to check vital signs. For example- temperature, respiratory rate, fever are common symptoms of covid-19. Monitor Oxygen saturation.
2) Maintain respiratory isolation. Maintain isolation rooms clean. Use mask and protective gawns and educate the patient about hygiene and transmission of covid-19.
