Public health is defined as the science and art of disease prevanting , prolong life and improve quality of life.

Modern public health began deveoping in 19th century as a respose to advance in science that lead to the understanding the source and spread of disease. As the knoledge of contagious disease increase means to control them and prevent infection were soon developed. Most governments recognizes the importance of public health programme in reducing incidence of disease , disability and effect of aging and other physical or mental conditions. However public health generally receive less government funding compaired with medicine. Collaboration of local health and government agencies is considered as best practice to improve public health, the piece of evidence to support this is limited. Public health providing vaccination have made strides in promoting health , including eradication of small pox, a disease that plagued huminity for thousand of year.

The influence of culture in public health is vast . It affect the perception of health , illness and death belief about causes of diasease, approaches to health promotion , how illness and pain are experinced and expressed , where patient seek help and type of the treatment patient prefere. The concept of culture has been used as a descriptive and explanatory concept in public health efforts to understand human action and knowledge about health and illness , medicine and health seeking practices of individualnand groups . Health promotion enhances the quality of life by forcing on prevention , health promotion reduces tge cost that individual, employer ,family , insurance companies , medical facilities , communities the state and nation would spent on medical treatment. Health promotion require policy makers across all governmental department to make a cental line in government policies that prevent people in becoming ill and protect them from injuries. Health promotion efforts can be directed towards priority health conditions involving a large population and promoting multiple interventions this issue based approach will work best if complimented by setting based design. The setting based design can be implimented in school ,workplaces, markets , residential area etc. to address priority health problems by taking into account the complex health determinants such as behaviour , cultural belief , practice that operate in place people living or work.
