Standing in a ticket line to see a movie you and your date witness an elderly couple show their ID’s to qualify for a discounted ticket because of their age. They pay $8 each while you pay $14 for both you and your date. Price discrimination like this occurs in various forms in almost all industries. Do you feel that this is fair? Explain your reasoning in detail.
Answer : Yes, I feel the price discrimination is fair. Because the people of a particular age does not earn money like students. And people whose age is above that particular age earn money like parents. So, parents has the capability to pay more than students. Students take money from parents to go to movie or somewhere else. Generally parents give a small amount to their children to spend on movie or other things except study and required things. Hence students have lower budget to spend. But as parents earn money hence they can spend more than their children. Hence price discrimination is good and I feel fair.
