Before the advent of modern cell phones, waiting was just . . . waiting. People used to use times like this to think, to remember, to introspect, and to feel. Today, most people do not allow themselves to disengage with the gadget/ social media in this way.

Yes, above acts are detrimental because it affects your thought process, makes you lost in some unknown territory when you are engaged in phone notifications without any reason, reduces your attention.
What is being lost when every free second is filled by a piece of technology?
Practically, you lose your own self and your identity at those free times. You lose your precious time where you can rest, meditate, introspect and rejuvenate your brain with positivity.

Today I did not check my phone for a single day. I felt that I am quite relaxed and happy. I understood clearly what was happening to me the times when I was consistently busy in my phone. A load of information (from social media, notifications etc.) used to enter my mind those times earlier and making it burdened and feeling uneasy. Today I did not feel this. It looked that something really changed and my mind felt quite freshness.
