Why are gun control laws not effective in the United States ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Unfortunately, US has highest homicide rate with firearm injuries. For a developed country this record is not really something to boast about.

This rather poor record shows that the gun control laws are not effective in the US. Inspite of state as well as federal regulations about gun control, gun related crimes and violence has kept pace.

The main reason why the gun control laws have not been effective in the US is the second amendment of the US constitution.

The second amendment says " A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed ".

The second amendment provides the citizens an easier access to guns inspite of background checks and license requirement.

Therefore, government must think about policy changes that can effectively tackle gun violence in the country
