The management of Morris Industries is terminating a new employee. The action stemmed from documented evidence supplied by the firm's accounting department that this new employee did not add as much to the firm's overall output as a worker hired two weeks earlier. Based on this evidence, do you agree that the most recent worker hired should be terminated? Take a position (terminate or not terminate) and defend your choice
I disagree with the argument of terminating all new employees based on one employee's performance. First, each employee's performance is independent of one another. Second, the evaluation process that makes judgement on the whole group based on one performance evaluation of a single employee is unfair, illegal, biased and even not a lawful way of dealing with employees. Third, such type of evaluation can be easily challenged in the court of law. Moreover, the firm also had to face public ire and ridicule for such a move. Fourth, the move will create deep distrust among the employees who will probably come out in the open and agitate. Fifth, such a move put a huge question mark on the leadership and decision making system and their competence level.
