Is China a Currency manipulator? Is the US doing the right thing by adopting more protectionist policies against China?

China is one of the faster growing economies in the world and it has done so through sound economic policies and a carefully managed trade regime. China is not a currency manipulator but a careful manager of trade policy. The US has adopted protectionist policies with China as the dollar has not been succesful against the Chinese currency. The current US China exchange rate in USD is equal to 6 yuan. This has meant that the yuan is almost at terms with the dollar. Protectionist measures are not the right way to go as this will only warrant retaliation by the Chinese in the future. The aim should be a devaluation of the domestic currecy to make Chinese goods easily purchasable. Thus China is not a foreign currency manipulator. Its a careful manager of its trade policy. Protectionism is not a solution.
