An increase in intersection volume can be handled by adding more signal phases. Do you agree/disagree – explain.

YES I AGREE THAT INCREASE IN INTERSECTION VOLUME CAN BE HANDLED BY ADDING MORE SIGNAL PHASES . THE REASON FOR THIS IS WE ARE PROVIDING LESS SIGNAL PHASES THEN QUEUE LENGTH WILL BE LONG WHILE WAITING (I.E. RED TIME) AND HENCE STARTUP LOSS TIME AND CLEARANCE LOST TIME WILL BE MORE THAN THE CASE IN WHICH LESS PHASES ARE THERE. IN ADDITION TO THAT DURING PEAK HOUR FLOW IT IS BETTER TO NOT HAVE LONG WAITING TIME AS IN CASE OF LESS SIGNAL PHASES.
