Which of the following have the highest entropy at room temperature?

A. A chunk of copper

B. Water

C. Air

D. Argon

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Entropy is the degree of randomness. It depends upon temperature and intermolecular forces of attraction.

Out of these, gases have more entropy than liquid and solids have least entropy.

Two gases are there: air and argon out of which argon will have the maximum entropy. It is due to the fact that it is a Nobel gas which does not show any forces of attraction except vanderwaal. However air consists of various gases out of which some shows vanderwaal interaction and dipole dipole interaction.
