Why would Type I diabetics be treated with insulin whereas Type II diabetics have other medicines?
Insulin is a pancreatic hormone which is secreted to normalise the blood sugar level. In type I diabetes the ability to release insulin by pancreus decreases and glucose uptake by muscles and tissue decreases. As a result of which the blood sugar level vehemently increases. This is why insulin is prescribed to be injected from outside source.
On the other hand there is sufficient production of insulin takes place in diabetes II, however it cannot be used as effectively as in case of a normal human being. In other words the body becomes insulin resistant. Thus, in this type of diabetes other medication are suggesed.
