after the first fraction distilled, the temperature may have dropped. why did this happen?
At the time of fractional distillation, the compound with lesser boiling point will be distilled out of the reaction by using the fractional distillation process and the remaining higher boiling point compound doesn't reach the column of fractional distillation, due to this there will be the temperature drop just after the first fractional distillation.
The above criteria will only be going to observed if the difference in boiling point is as high as upto 25C
