Afferent nerve fibres carry impulses from
(a) effector organs to CNS
(b) receptors to CNS
(c) CNS to receptors
(d) CNS to muscles.
An afferent nerve fiber is the axon of a sensory neuron in the peripheral nervous system that carry electrical signals (impulses) from receptors or sense organs to the central nervouse system. It carry somatosensory information from the outside world, such as sensations of heat, cold, and pain, to the brain and spinal cord. It located in the ganglia of the peripheral nervous system, axons of these cells travel from ganglion to ganglion and lead back to the spinal cord. Damage to the afferent nerve fiber causes a wide range of symptoms like traumatic injuries can lead to peripheral neuropathy, which in turn can lead to things such as chronic liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, vitamin B deficiency etc.
