why do plant cells need mitochondria?
Ans
Plant cells need mitochondria because,
Mitochondria is the center of the ATP (energy currency of cell) production process that makes it a very important organelle.
Glucose synthesized during photosynthesis is broken down and converted into ATP during the process known as cellular respiration.
The cellular respiration occurs in three steps: glycolysis, the Krebs Cycle and the electron transport chain.
Glycolysis occurs outside of the mitochondria and produces pyruvate and two ATP molecules. Pyruvate then enters the mitochondrial matrix and goes through the Krebs Cycle. During this process, FADH2 and NADH, which ultimately leads to the production of approximately 32 molecules of ATP through electron transport chain.
In addition to sustaingin life, this cellular respiration also plays an inportant role in seed germination
