What Osmotic conditions would be favored by Plant and Animal cells? Why?

Answer #1

Answer:- Animal cells do best in an isotonic environment while the plant cells tend to do best in a hypotonic environment.

animal cell (eg:- red blood cell) when in hypertonic environment has an adaptation that allows it to alter the osmotic uptake of water, it will lose too much water and shrivel up and if placed in a hypotonic solution, water molecules will enter the cell, causing it to swell and burst.

while the Plant cells in hypertonic solution become plasmolyzed, but tend to do best in a hypotonic environment.

please give a thumbs up if the answer help you. Thank you!
