b) A bear or a human?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution

a) answer- human produces more cortisol(6 to 23 mcg/dl) than mouse

  • because mouse do not produce appreciable cortisol, because they lack the adrenocortical zona fasciculata enzyme 17-α hydroxylase.
  • But human has this enzyme to produce cortisol.

b) answer

  • Brown Bear produces more cortisol because hibernation cycles than humans.
  • Elevated serum cortisol during hibernation is thought to increase lipolysis necessary to provide energy and maintain the relatively elevated metabolic rate of bears during hibernation.

The probability that a person has type B blood is 0.2158 and the probability that a person is female with B blood is 0.2577. Because these events are not equal, are they dependent? And the multiplication rule is P(A and B) = P(A) P (B l A) I'm having trouble with this equation. My question is to justify my conclusion that these are dependent events using the appropriate rule of probability (which I think is the multiplication rule). Please help!...
