Homologous organs are the organs that have similar ancestoral pattern but during the course of evolution the individual adapted the organs according to the habitat needs. For example in mammals arm of the humans, wing of a bat and fin of a whale. All of these structures contains the similar bone patter of radius, ulna, tarsal and metatarsals. But humans use the arm for various activities, bats use the arm for flying and whale uses it for swimming. Thus they have similar origin but different functions.
